WEM reach judgement day

The second day at World e-Sports Masters in Hangzhou, China took place today – MYM eliminated, mTw and e-STRO ties.

Day two at the World e-Sports Masters has finished. Day two featured the second round of the group stage, seeing a total of four matches being played. SK Gaming should be taking on the locals from wNv, which should turn out to be a closer match that first expected. The Chinese got crushed by mTw yesterday, but something clearly woke them up to glory today. SK Gaming did win against wNv, with a 16:11 score.

Second match of the day should see MYM taking on fnatic, a matchup we have seen so many times by now. The Swedes had won the last three fights and MYM really needed a win after their loss versus Dragon yesterday. A victory for MYM that started out the worst possible way. The Swedes started out tremendously with a 12:3 CT half on inferno. With MYM as CT, fnatic still got too many terrorist rounds and won the match with 16:10.

Game three of the day, e-STRO taking on mTw. When the two teams latest faced each other at ESWC Masters, the tied up. The Koreans started out as CT on dust2 and bulid up a solid lead by sending solo into lower-dark the first five rounds, which played off. When mTw noticed the setup e-STRO kept throwing at them, they reconstructed their attacks which payed off. The Danes secured an 8:7 half as terrorist, a half that was fairly even. Second half should be quite even too. The Danes did however take a lead on the Koreans, with the score 14:8. But e-STRO managed to close the gap, with successful attacks on the A bombsite. This made the match tie up 15:15, making the match tomorrow between SK Gaming and mTw, the decider of who will advance to the playoffs.

Last match of the day saw mousesports crush Dragon. Dragon had pulled an upset yesterday by defeating MYM, but not with fair play. The Chinese team did as mentioned take the advantage of ghosting, by looking at the MYM players monitors and take off their headsets and listen to the commentators. This resulted in a warning to Dragon, but did not have an impact on the result. Today’s match did not have anything in common with the match from yesterday; mousesports simply crushed the Chinese team with a 16:3 score.

It is clear that MYM has no chance of advancing to the playoffs as they are rocket-last in their group with 0 points. Interesting matches will be on display tomorrow, where the teams advancing to the playoffs will be determined. In group A, three teams still have the opportunity to advance. SK Gaming and mTw both hold 4 points, while e-STRO got 2. SK Gaming will take on mTw, while e-STRO will face wNv tomorrow. Looking at the results, e-STRO should be winning the match tomorrow, giving them a total of 5 points. SK Gaming versus mTw will then be the deciding match of who will advance, should the two tie up, and rounds will decide who will advance. In group B, mousesports have already secured a spot in the playoffs; fnatic will play Dragon to determine which of the two will follow mousesports to the playoffs.

Here are the match-ups for the third round of the group stage.

Instead of HLTV there will be some livestreams, we will do our best to include the livestreams here on our page. If that is not possible, we will link to them from here.

We will update our coverage section with results and standings during the entire event, and should demos be released by the organizers, we will add them right away.
